I'd like to try this activity but I don't have the money and equipment yet. Can someone advice me how I can do this without spending too much? And what kind of skills do I need to have for me to enjoy this activity?

Unfortunately, it's one of those things where you generally have to know someone who has the equipment to lend you or who can take you on a trip so that you can experience it without spending too much. Otherwise, you're going to have to pay for a charter with experienced people to help you out.
