Any Ice Fishermen?

I used to go ice fishing with my grandpa on Lake Champlain in Vermont every winter for most of my childhood. I loved ice fishing because we would catch lots of fish...in fact my Grandpa used to sell the perch we would catch to a local market because we would pull in 100+ fish in a couple of hours. I also liked ice fishing because if the fish weren't biting, I would ice skate.

I used to love Ice fishing.May start again.Do you remember anything about the walleye train on the NY side of Champlain ?

It does not get cold enough to ice over anything here. Well maybe a small puddle on the rare occasion. But I would be willing to give it a try.

Living in the south that is something that I have never done but always thought it would interesting and fun to do. That is if you like being out in the cold and fishing.

I was visiting up north one time (many years ago) and went with some friends. It was very interesting as I had never done this before. I remember it being very cold and I think we did catch a few fish.

We used to ice fish on style....my grandpa had a shanty with a small heater, so we weren't always out in the cold fishing. It would actually get quite toasty warm in the shanty to where you could sit with your snowsuit off to your waist.

Eddie, I have never heard of the walleye train...what is it? A good spot for walleye fishing? I never ice fished for walleye...we always fished for perch. Where on the NY side?

I've gone ice fishing a number of times over the years, but don't catch near as many fish as we used to. It's a great way to spend a day though if you have a hut to keep you warm.

I'm just waiting for some ice. It's been unseasonably warm and I'm not sure if we'll ever get any ice. Once we have enough ice I love to ice fish. I even set up a shack.

Sounds fun! I think I would try it at least once, not sure what I would catch but I can bet ya that I would slip at least twice out on the ice. I have balance issues, I need a warning sign or something so people can look out for me.

No, but I almost had to beat the tar out of one once. I helped a bunch of kids clear 3' of snow on a lake so they could play hockey. Took all afternoon. We came back and some guy had drilled holes all over it rather than clear his own area. We had words. I almost had to put my boot in that guy's icehole.
