Default Perch bait

I'm not too familiar with perch, but I'm staying at a campground right now that has a ton of perch in the pond. I brought my poles so I figured why not? What would be the best bait for catching perch?

I think perch are pretty flexible. Some night crawlers would probably do the trick, but I think they like small bait so maybe just use pieces. Or a piece of minnow would work too.

I'm seldom in a place where pearch are, but when I am I use pieces of night crawlers. I usually have some pretty good luck with them.

Cold water you want shiner minnows
Warm water fresh shrimp or softshell crawdads

For more general fishing:
Berkley honey worms are said to work good too.

Night crawlers as mentioned work well.

We generally use crappie minnows here in Indiana. These are commonly referred to as "fatheads". These minnows average 1 and1/2 to 2 inches in length. Once the bait is taken, wait about 4 to 5 seconds before setting the hook.

Small minnows work very well for the bigger ones, if they start to get finicky switch to leaf worms or partial crawlers threaded onto the hook. They will even hit small spinners as well as small minnow lures like the 1.0- 1.5 inch rapalas.
