Concealed Carry ladies

Gentlemen you are welcome to chime in, but I am specifically interested in how ladies who carry concealed do it. Are you using holsters, shirts/undershirts with the holster built in, or concealed carry purses? I have been considering getting one of the purses, but they are really pricey!

My wife keeps her little .38 S&W revolver in her purse or on the center console of her car.
The gun is in a simple holster.

Many times I see...in catalogs...fanny packs especially made for concealed carry.

I have seen a few ladies that I know carry in both the purse and holster, but I remember when my sister used to dance. Going too and from work she carried hers under her skirt.

Aww, thanks Grandpa! I do not have the purse although I have been looking at them. You are right...they are pricey, and I just don't want to spend that kind of money and hate it. Most of the time for EDC I use an inside the waistband holster. I do have a shoulder holster, but I am not real excited about my personal draw time with it. A lot of ladies really like shoulder holsters. Others use an ankle holster if they are wearing pants. I have one, but I have never used it. If something pops off do you really want to have to bend over to get it? I just think that might draw unwanted attention. A thigh holster might be an option for ladies who wear a lot of skirts...that is an option I haven't tried out yet. If you get the purse let me know... I would love to know what you think about it.

My ex-wife carries her J-frame 38 in a purse holster, and I threaded aircraft cable through the strap so a hoodlum couldn't just cut the strap and take off with it. Some mfgrs include this feature now I think, although when we got hers we couldn't find one.

Back in the day when I carried it was open carry. I could not justify a reason to invite trouble by hiding weapons. Knives and guns were easily seen by anyone where allowed. These days, everything is visible as a deterrent even if just mace. Not into playing games. If I were to carry something with a little bit of punch again, I would do the same. Don't mess with Texas is an awesome saying for all women!

I don't disagree with you Judyann, and Georgia is an open carry state. A lot of times I am out alone with my two small kids though, and some people might take a woman alone with 2 small kids and a holstered gun as an opportunity for a free one. They'd be mistaken, but I would rather not have to shoot an idiot in front of my kids if I can help it.

Blueskyy you seem to be limited in your choices in the hot, humid South and having two little ones requiring additional safety issues.There is a great shop in Brunswick, GA where LEOs can get anything related to weapon carry that you might want to visit if you get a chance.

I think that there was a thread here in the past with a similar question. Good luck in your search and please tell us what ended up working.
