Default Do you pay attention to where it comes from?

Someone emailed me a pic this week that someone had forwarded them about a guy who was injured and had his gun pretty much blow up in his hand from bad ammunition. These particular rounds came from China. Do you look at where you ammunition is made before you buy it?

Yes, but never had anything like that. I did buy a box of cheap ammo for grandma's .243 so she could get some practice in. First shot had that distinctive "crack" sound signifying an overload, second shot went pop and the bullet barely made it out the end of the barrel. I pulled the bullets on the rest and dumped the powder in piles down the line. No two were visibly alike. These were made in Korea.

I always buy brands that I trust, and have had good experiences with. I don't know that I have ever seen any ammunition that came from China, but I am sure there is some. They make everything else in the world.

I'm quite frankly, as concerned about the email as the ammo.

I remember a few years ago, seeing a message about boycotting Korean products because Koreans eat dogs. Lots of pictures of cute little doggies and kittys in cages.

The source of the message - Roger Smith, Chairman or General Motors.

Don't trust everything you read on the internet.

I got the same pictures vie e-mail last year. I don't remember the caliber but think it was .357 but not sure. The back strap was gone and the top half of the cylinder was gone. The story was imported Chinese ammunition. Well my opinion is the guy had hot reloads or a squib reload and a hot reload fired and had a catastrophic event when the hot round was fired into an obstructed barrel. I have seen pictures of revolvers that looked the same. The cause was obstruction in the barrel. I am not saying the guy is not telling the truth about the origin of the ammunition but. The importation of Chinese ammunition has been against federal law since about 1994 or there abouts. The importation of Chinese ammunition was out lawed during the first couple of years of the
Clinton administration.

Just like every thing else that comes from China, pure crap! Tainted Dog food, kids toys with lead paint, contaminated drywall, what else are they trying to push off on us. When it comes to ammo, why take chances?

I take that back....the martial arts from China are some of the best...oh ya, the food is pretty good, can't slam them for everything.
