Default If you could only have one...

If for some crazy reason (totally hypothetical situation) you could only have one gun what would you choose? You can also have all the ammunition you would ever need...but just for the one gun.

12 guage shotgun, preferably my old Remington 1100 or a new Benelli semi

Hi...

That's a tough one (hasn't that post been around before?). I'll have to go with Grandpa, with the 12-guage. Between shot and slugs, you've got most bases covered.

I'd say the same. 12 gauge would cover hunting and defense.

Heather Locklear

Oh wait, wrong thread!

I'd pick a Winchester Model 70 in 30.06. Yes, I know there are better rounds, but the old .06 won't wipe the rifling out of the barrel nearly as fast as a .300 Win Mag, etc. You can kill just about anything you want with it, including rabbits and squirrels if you aim for the head, geese on the ground. It's a lot handier with big game than the shotgun with slugs, and I'd rather eat venison than pigeons.

Well, this is gonna sound goofy, but for many years a single-shot .22 was my only gun.

Nothing sounds goofy to me. Everyone knows their own abilities best. A .22 is a very viable choice in my mind. I'll still stick with the shotgun though. Although I am now leaning more to a Savage combo gun, .308 over 12 guage or .243 over 20 guage.

I was once going to buy a Savage M24 in 357 over 20 gauge, but the seller sold it to somebody else before payday. If I found another reasonable, I'd probly buy it.
