Add one wolf to my sighting tally for 2011. UDOT was picking its carcass off I-15 as we went south to daughters Dec 31.

Grandpa,

Wow. Wolf sighting from the Interstate. Next they'll be in town.

Been watching the local paper down there to see if they said anything but nothing yet. As big as that critter was, it must have caused some damage to whatever hit it. Instead of the normal "meat wagon" truck they pick up road kill with, they were using a pickup with a low trailer to drag it on. Probably so the fed wildlife boys could have it to study.

In July was camping in Franconia Notch, White Mtns, NH and there were two bears wandering around the general area all week. One adult and one independent juvenile. My son and I walked about a mile in the creek bed by our site and either those bears are very active in the area or we found a bear highway. Bear tracks everywhere.

My uncle lives on the other side of the White Mtns range and has bears at his trash cans a couple times a month.

We didn't see any bears during the last year, other than from the car in Yellowstone and Grand Teton NPs. Last week cross country skiing in Island Park (west of Yellowstone), we saw some gigantic grizzly bear tracks in the snow. That was cool.

Did not see any bears this year, as my main vacation was in Utah canyon country. Saw plenty of bears last year in Glacier National park.

Interestingly, I've been to Colorado more times that I can count and I've never seen a bear in that state.
