| Dress code vs. firearms Hi...
I just saw a film clip via e-mail that was utterly amazing (wish I knew how to put it on this thread). It demonstrated why Detroit school's dress codes includes having all shirts tucked into the pants, and no baggy trousers will be worn.
The reason for this dress code was demonstrated by a young high school age kid wearing his shirt out of his pants. Remember, this was a demo only.
He pulled FOURTEEN handguns out of his waist and pockets, including a Mac Ten with a magazine, and he also had a 12-gauge pump shotgun which he pulled out of his pant leg...!!
If any of you privately give me your e-mail address, I'll send it to you for posting.

| Loose baggie clothing is harder to detect hidden items such as drugs and small weapons. Cold Steel knives has a video of all kinds of knives concealed on a guy in a business suit. It crazy what you can hide on yourself . I believe there should be dress codes at schools. Most of the kids dress like rag bags today anyway. And they wonder why they get no respect!
If you play the video, go to the address and copy and paste it on this site. It should play for all to see.

| A long time ago, I was working in my office, when a kid came in to apply for a job. He walked past my door, and I glanced up at him. He was wearing a baggy tee shirt (not nearly as baggy as they wear them today), ratty looking jeans, and hight top tennies with the laces undone and dragging the ground.
He went in and got a job application and was on the way out when I stopped him. I said "Kid, I know you likely won't listen to what I'm telling you, but if you get called in for an interview; wear nice clothes, like you'd wear to church, a tie wouldn't hurt, and for God's sake, tie your friggin' shoes! It makes you look like you are either too lazy or to stupid to take care of yourself!"
Never saw him again, and he never got a job in our plant...

| I know I'll take some heat for this, but I think the whole problem stems from thinking of being armed as unusual, and assuming that people are (or should be) unarmed as a default condition. I'm not asking you to be comfortable with kids bringing guns to school, just pointing out the folly of thinking that a gang member willing to commit robbery or murder is going to disarm himself to obey a no-guns rule.
I think it's a mistake to risk children in an environment where the bad guys are armed and the good guys are disarmed. It creates an "all-victim" zone with huge potential for tragedy.
