Default Inflatable Kayaks

For some reason these do not sit well with me. Is this a marketing deal to sucker people in? I just do not have a safe feeling when it comes to being on an inflatable, maybe its just me.

I've known of a couple of these that have been packed into high mountain lakes for trout fishing. One guy carried the kayak and his buddies split up the rest of his gear.
The other was packed in on a horse. Couldn't tell you how they worked out.

I have one of these.. Airis Velocity Inflatable Kayak - #16803 - AirKayaks and have had no problems with class 4 and a class 5 rapids here on the east.

I also have one of these.. Denali Llama.. http://www.alpackaraft.com/index.cfm...&CategoryID=53 and have never had a problem .....just buy quality and never buy cheap when your butt depends on getting you through a class 4 or above...

I was reading a travel blog about a couple who took blow up kayaks to get around in Venice! According to the blog the kayaks worked great but water taxis didn't appreciate their presence.

Many years ago I was able to try out a two man collapsible Kayak, it was pretty neat. It had foot pedals that controlled a rudder. Took a little getting use to but over all it was a lot of fun.

Because they never returned? Sorry, poor taste. I don't like the thought of them because kayaks are usually used around rounds and rafts and rocks don't go together.

we use tributary's on the river here . not as manuverable , but solid and stable . weight about 45 # . would go with the infltable seat for better support .
i have a used sea eagle that i use on lakes when camping . ok , but slow .

I have some apprehensions about anything that is inflatable used as a means to float in the water. I fear that something might cause a hole to deflate it, no matter how thick or how sturdy they say it is.
