Default Kayaking

We enjoy going on kayaking trips, although we've yet to do an overnighter. Thus far, we've kayaked off the North Carolina coast and in various inland rivers. Where are your favorite kayaking areas?

We have the river and Gulf near where we live so have some really nice areas for doing just this. We also do a lot of fishing and will sometimes fish out of our kayaks.

I sat on the beach one time on the NC Coast and watched a fellow Kayak up and down the same stretch for quite a while. I admired his drive and tenacity. I just don't think this is something I could do. My husband, however, is quite interested in it.

I mostly stay on the Gulf flats near me. They have much better fishing then freshwater. I have yet to do an over night trip either, but would love to give it a shot.

Delaware River--- There are numerous campgrounds along the river but camping is free on the islands and along the shore of the river in the Delaware Water Gap.

I've never been kayaking but I want to give it a try. Would it be safe to say that if I can canoe somewhere I can probably kayak in that area too? We have many State Parks with large rivers that run through. I wonder if we could kayak in those areas?

For whitewater Kayaking, it's Idaho. 3200 miles of whitewater rivers, most of any state. For scenic beauty, the world is full of those kind of places. Same goes for fishing.

I'm not a kayaker but I've always wanted to be. I'm planning a trip next year and I'm buying entirely new gear for it. So I'll let you know how it goes.

There are quite a few places in Michigan you can do overnighters and longer. The Manistee and AuSable are two of them.
