| I do a lot of 2-5 day river and lake backwater camping. I have pretty much switched over to my kayak full time for this. The only time i take the canoe on overnights now is when I have to two-up in a boat for some reason or if its a big lazy river. A kayak is just so much more efficient for me to paddle in stiller waters. I appreciate the extra energy I have in camp later and for evening fishing- especially on windy days! Boat opinions, as far as hull choices, are like bellybuttons- everybody has them. So just make sure to pick one that suits you well, 'cause its your butt and shoulders that will have to be happy paddling it! You will rarely hear about everyone liking a particular model, but if you hear of everyone disliking one for a particular reason, you should prolly stay away. I have an Old Town kayak that is currently out of production that I use for camping/fishing multi-day trips and a Remix that is more for river camping on the lazier midwestern rivers and some whitewater. You can go touring(for the longer hauls), recreational, or even hybrid What kind of water you usually paddling? That is the biggest factor...
Hope I helped at least a little.
