Default Missouri River Wild and Scenic, Montana

I am planning a 149 mile canoe trip on the Missouri Wild and Scenic section in Montana between Fort Benton and the Kipp Rec. Area in July or August, 2011. Has anyone on this forum done this trip? If so would appreciate any comments you might have to help me in my planning.

Paddle Daddy,
Great idea.

I did the trip in about 1999. It was hot, really hot in July. I am talking about 115 degrees hot. Eastern Montana fooled us. Spring or early fall would be better. The first 3-4 days from Ft. Benton have numerous commercial trips. The last couple of days were like a dream through the badlands. We saw lots of bighorn sheep that didn't even lift their heads when we floated by. We saw no one. We had planned to be out for 8 days, but the thought of ice and cold beer spurred us to paddle 36 miles the last day to the takeout. The shuttle is about 8 hours. Please let me know what else you would like to know. I would do this trip again.

Don't forget your Lewis and Clark journal. By day three we all had historical personas. My brother was called Charbonneau, the most timid boatman on all of the Missouri!
