Default New Custom Paddles

A new pair of paddles for my girlfriend and I. These are for our 2012 Mississippi River Expedition. We will be canoeing the full length of the river from Lake Itasca to the Gulf of Mexico.

Made by Whiskey Jack Paddles. Each weighs 17 oz.

Beautiful paddles. I never was a big fan of bent paddles, but those are gorgeous workmanship. Best of luck on your adventure!

I'd never used bent paddles until I got these and now I don't see myself ever going back to straight shaft. These are just so much more efficient. Normally we switch sides about every half hour to prevent fatigue. Now we're paddling several hours on each side without switching.

Well, whatever works! The bent paddles I tried were only bent at the blade, and I found them a bit awkward, but perhaps I just didn't use them long enough to get used to them.

I notice the blades are broader and shorter than what I'm used to- I suppose that may make a big difference too.

Did you do those paddles by yourself or did you hire someone to make it for you? Anyhow, those paddles are gorgeous. I never used a bent paddle yet so I'm interested in using one.

He makes some great lightweight paddles. Mine have served me well for a few hundred miles so far. The only thing I've had to do was lightly sand and reapply some lacquer.

I usually don't trek very far,
when all around me black bears are.

I'm no paddle expert, but...WOW...best of luck on the journey...!!

Made by Whiskey Jack Paddles (whiskeyjackpaddles.com) up in Whitefish, Montana. I placed the order, and about a week later my girlfriend told me they were in. That guy doesn't waste time.

Dan's an incredibly nice guy also. It's good to support the business of people who are passionate about what they do.
