Those are some beauties. I love their look. Makes me miss my canoe so I could get a set.

Those are gorgeous, but as rough as I am on paddles they wouldn't look like that for long.

I'd like to try out some paddles that are bent like that, although I really don't do a lot of cruising.

[QUOTE=Newanderthal;44208]A new pair of paddles for my girlfriend and I. These are for our 2012 Mississippi River Expedition. We will be canoeing the full length of the river from Lake Itasca to the Gulf of Mexic

Those are beauties! Kudos for keeping the dream going!

going to use some velcro strap to attach a length of paracord to each paddle and then a small clip to connect the other end to the life vests.

We've actually deliberately dropped the paddles into the water to switch. I wanted to try my girlfriend's paddle, so she just dropped it in the water and I snatched it up as the canoe floated past it. To give her mine, I just tossed it ahead and let the canoe catch up to it.

I'd worry more about them walking away from a momentarily unattended boat, actually.

Nice looking paddles. Are they red cedar and ponderosa pine? It is hard to tell in the photo. For a long trip how about making some paddles for the occasion? It is not that hard. You will need some spares for a long trip.
