Default Transparent canoe

Which of you has ever seen a transparent canoe before?

I found these interesting pictures and thought to share them with you guys. Pretty interesting design, wouldn't you say so?

Looks like it would be easy to punch a hole in it! Yea it's neat but why?

I've seen "glass" bottoms. They are great in the crystal clear water springs we have around here. Otherwise, it is a novelty item.

That looks like it might be made of lexan or similar polycarbonate plastic. It's a layering material in bulletproof glass. Depending on the thickness of that sheet I wouldn't worry at all about punching a hole in it. That seam, though, would be interesting to see. It could be made with minimal seam along the bottom with most of the seal above the water. If the sheet is cut straight down the middle at the bottom, though, and sealed off with something like a silicone caulk, that's your worrisome failure point.

I do wonder how careful you would have to be about scratches before the bottom wasn't transparent anymore.

I have heard of some aqua hotels but never anything like this. Looks quite interesting but I have to wonder what the fish think about it?

Why would the fish see it any differently than any other canoe?

That sure is different. I think it would be great for beautiful clear waters. Not sure it would do much good in the water pictured. Thanks for sharing though, I've never seen anything like that.

I don't know. Probably, just for fun, or maybe it's one of those "art for art's sake" things...

I don't think the fish see it any different, unless you have insects on the bottom of the canoe, in which case fish might poke their heads on the glass in an attempt to grab some food...

I have never been a fan of boats with transparent bottoms. Glass bottom boats freak me out. It is cool to look at, but no way do I want to be out on a boat like that. Plus everyone would stare, I hate when people do that.
