Default GPS Classes

Does anyone know if there are classes on how to use a GPS? We got a used Magellan Explorist 210. I am not sure if there was another manual that explains it in english, but the one we have is very vague and very technical. Does the public library offer classes for free? Or maybe a weeekend class at the college?

I've not heard of organized classes for GPS devices. I know my father-in-law bought one and returned it because he couldn't get it to outline an alternate route that he wanted to take.

His was a fairly basic one, but had a lot of features and different language capabilities.

I have not heard of any. What I would do is look for some local geocaching groups. You can learn a lot just by going with them, and a lot of times they would be more then happy to teach you how to use your device.

As fun as GPS's are, they can be a pain to learn. The instructions are almost useless. It's nice to know what your GPS can do, but how about a little practical application in those instructions. I agree, local Geocaching clubs in your home area can assist you greatly in GPS instruction. I started with Magellan's back in 2000, the 315 & 320, then to the Sport track map, and finally with a Explorist 500LE, which I still have. I also have a Garmin eTrex Legend and a Colorado 300 which is my main GPS. I live in the far south suburbs of Chicago, If I can be of any help give me a shout.

Have you searched the internet for a manual of pointers on how to use the GPS system? That is where I would start. You can look right on their website and hopefully find the information there. I have never heard of any classes on GPS's.
