Default Little help gentlemen and handy ladies

Okay I know I am cutting it close here but my husband just mentioned he wanted a cordless drill so I thought it would be a good Father's day gift. Home Depot has Black and Decker ones on sale are they a good name brand for tools?

Makita and Dewalt are good professional tools. I built my Log Home and several others and know and use high quality tools. If looking for around the Home tool use I say Black and Decker is a good choice.

Milwaukee is another good brand but I have to agree with the fridge. I own a couple Black&Decker tools I bought as the need arose for a second like tool on a specific job. They're not quite as good as commercial grade but perform admirably.

+3 about Black and Decker reviews...they do have a professional line but HD usually doesn't usually carry it. I have Dewalt, Porter Cable, and Milwalkee...replacements for my worn out B&D tools.

I had my fill of cordless tools. Unless you use them a lot and have multiple batteries, I think they are not worth the money. We have them at work and they are a pain. Sure it's nice to be able to drill something out in the middle of nowhere, but when those batteries wear out, it's expensive to replace them. We find it cheaper to just buy a whole new drill kit again. At home I don't use them a lot, when I need one the batteries are all dead and need charging again. I have used them on jobs and get tired of running back and forth for batteries. I can hook up an extension cord with a conventional drill and far more done. I used to have one of those kits with like 6 different tools in it, I got rid of it. Either way you look at it, you still need power to charge the batteries, just plug it into the drill. As far as DeWalt goes, it's just supposed to be the industrial version of Black and Decker. We go through them like water, junk as far as I'm concerned. You will pay more but Makita, Porter Cable or Milwaukee but you will get higher quality and reliability.

I got a Black and Decker cordless drill with the warranty from Home Depot. It was a good thing I got it too. It burned out pretty quickly but I was able to get it replaced. The second cordless drill is still in action so maybe that first one was a lemon.

I have had a similar experience to sailor man. If it were just me that happened to it would be fine. But now you have me asking, how many lemons are there? I know there are bound to be some. With that said, no matter the brand, if there is a warranty, get it.

I prefer the Craftsman hand tools due to the lifetime warranty. Too bad that doesn't apply to power tools. I'm not saying that they are the best, Just like the warranty. I hardly ever need to change one out, but when I do, there's no questions asked.

Dewalt and a few others are owned by Black and decker. In the day Black and decker was king. For the money and the home improver Black and Decker is a good choice.
