Memorial Day

I hope everyone enjoys Memorial Day. I'm sure most of us will have some activity outdoors and the smell of charcoal will permeate the air. Children will play and so will adults. Beer and wine will flow.

All of us should remember for at least a few minutes during the day and hoist our glasses to the real heroes who made this day possible. Every year our government becomes a bit more invasive but we are still essentially a free people. We fight amongst ourselves about our philosophies and we constantly get involved in political squabbles. But there does seem to be one thing that brings us all together. And Americans are always willing to lend a hand. It has always been a source of wonder to me that disaster seems to congeal us all into a massive family.

I have to applaud you and I stand up and salute the heros who do the dirty job every single day. I was a Marine back in my younger days and I know what they have to go through. I was fortunate in the fact I got through my tour of duty without being in war but it doesn't mean I wasn't ready to do my part if necessary. Every serviceman or woman is a hero in my eyes.

Well said dinosaur. I took a road "less traveled" through Virginia on my way home today from a great weekend in the mountains and paid my tribute to those that made our lives possible. I cannot begin to imagine the sacrifices that were paid dearly in human blood for our lifestyles and conviences today.

Thank you again to all who serve, and who have served to protect our great nation!

Great post. Thank you for taking the time to write it out. I was on the road for about 20 hours that day, so not toasts for me. But I am very greatful for all the work our service men and woman do.
