Yeah, after a few days, we really only missed hot water and the fridge. We were going to sleep earlier, getting homework done easier, and eating better without power.

Hi...

I was once on a project in a very remote area. Its only claim to fame was that it was the most remote area that was serviced by mail plane...!! For a population of three only families...!! Float plane in summer, wheel skis at other times.

Didn't miss any of those electronic items while there.

One family had a gasoline operated washing machine, though (we had to do our laundry by hand).

I once mentioned that my favorite cake was pineapple upside down cake. Would you believe...in a place that isn't even on most maps...one of the inhabitants made one for me...!!

Here's something funny. I don't have a TV (haven't since the early 80s), kind of a social cripple in that regard. Don't miss it one bit.

When I mention that to a stranger, I check the time. Almost always, within 5 minutes, they'll make a comment about, "well, I don't watch that much TV, just the history channel and educational shows" or words to that effect. As if I cared about their habits.

Usually, I just mention it because they made some TV show reference, and I looked at them blankly.

Hi...

I "listen" to as much TV as I watch. I can't get to sleep without some background "noise". So, I'll have a...hopefully...interesting program on, and listen to it until I fall asleep. It's something that I'm used to doing.
