Default Road Trips

Do you guys like cross country road trips? Many people I know hate driving and don't like going on trips if they have to drive. I guess I can see their point that it might get boring, but taking a trip with family out on the open road is something that is a great memory for me. Maybe I get this from my father, because he loved doing it when we were kids. I just think it's great to stay in new places and meet and have brief conversations with people at a restaurant or place you stop so you get to see people that maybe live differently.

It's a road trip for us just to get to Walmart.

Yes, I would rather drive cross country than fly but sometimes time is just too critical.

I don't really like to take long road trips. I would rather be flying! I love going on vacations but I hate that it takes me so long to get there (by driving). I've got a funny stomach and sometimes it's a pain to be on the road when my stomach is acting up!

We love road trips - we take short ones often. I don't even mind taking longer road trips as long as the kids are well rested and not whiny! We are planning a trip from NY to California soon - of course we will stop many times along the way!

I drove from Florida to Texas for my sons surgery. Then turned around two weeks later and did the same trip for his checkup. Saved us over $1000 versus flying and I got to drive. Yup, I'll take a road trip any chance I can get. Sadly my wife gets car sick though, so my weekend trips are out anymore. When gas was cheap, I would drive to no where. Found all sorts of interesting stuff that way.

I read when I'm in a car for a long trip if I'm not the one driving because it's too frustrating. I like to go fast and not travel behind slow idiots.

I like to do road trips in the van and then just sleep in parking lots along the way. Well I shouldn't say I like to do that but I like to save the money on a motel and see the sights along the way.

I love road trips! (Road Trip Trip Report - Utah and Colorado)

A fairly new fear of flying has helped push me in that direction, but I do love getting out on the open road. It seems like my worries of work and bills and everyday responsibilities just slowly fade away as the mileage increases. As opposed to the stress of getting to the airport on time, checking bags, waiting in line, etc.

I tend to take one big road trip a year, and lots of little ones (4 hours or less) and then maybe fly once or twice a year for vacation as well.

I like driving so road trips are fun to me. I just don't like driving on a desert where the road is straight. What I like most on road trips is when I drive along the coastline.
