Default Thankful for offline mode

Lately too many things online have been bothering me, from the simple times people email me and do not use BCC to when people that are my buddies end up spamming up my facebook page. I can not wait until the weekend to sit outdoors and just chill, no internet, no work and have a good time.

I agree. I need technology for my living and to keep in touch with people but right now I feel stressed by it. I just want a couple of weeks to get away. Maybe when I go sailing next I can relax a little.

I think there is a definite disadvantage to being "connected" all the time. I love being able to turn off my cell and the computer when we get out in the woods.

When I head up to Alaska next month, I'll be out were there's no cell phone coverage. My time to be off line.

Good for all of you! Most everyone now has to be plugged in all the time. When I was growing up we didn't have the internet or cell phones and we not only managed but enjoyed it. Escape was good.

I still don't have a cell phone. Lately the rhetoric from others is becoming more aggressive. Apparently now it is irresponsible and potentially dangerous to others to not carry a cell phone. I'm still trying to wrap my head around that. Recently someone got mad that "if you were walking by and saw someone on the ground having a heart attack you could not call 911 and so you are risking their life." My response: "I know CPR. Do you?"

Should of asked the chowder head how many time they have talked or texted while driving and put other peoples life at risk. One thing I noticed, go to the mall or any other crowded place and see how many of these idiots are walking around with their heads down texting. They all look like squirrels munching on a nut. Yes I have a cell and I hardly use it. It's provided by my employer and serves it purpose at work. I do carry it at all times, yes it's nice that I have this convenience. But is it necessary? not really. I think the fact that it's there make life more hectic. People spend less time talking to others and more time surfing the web from their phones. Another thing that get's me is when your standing in line somewhere and the person behind you starts to speak, you turn to acknowledge them and they give you that **** eating grin and point to their "Blue Tooth", " Oh my lieutenant Uhura, didn't know you where on the horn with Star Fleet Command". Then they look at you like you just crawled out of the Amazon wearing a lion cloth.

Sorry to ramble, time for another beer!

I got a cell phone, grandma gave it to me so she could track me down. Then she got me one of them fancy ones that "connects" me up with everything. Carried the durn thing for a week before it finally rang but when it did, I must have pushed the wrong button and lost the call. So I gave the durn thing to my daughter and went back to my old one. At least it never rings and it wouldn't matter if it did because it's usually home on the dresser anyway.

I love technology when its good, its really good. The issue is when its bad, its more than just really bad. It is almost like trying to stay on an amazing diet and then your best friend gives you the worlds most famous chocolate cake for a birthday present.

My husband andI are leaving wednesday to go camping for a week so we wont have service. It is a nice break from being connected to everyone you know. Although I do love my cell phone, I use the internet all the time through my phone. I love technology so I'm not complaining. But I do agree that the simpler life was Probably more exciting in away, having to wait for things instead of instant gradification.

Alice came to a fork in the road," Which road do I take"? she asked.
"Where do you want to go"? responded the cheshire cat.
"I don't know," Alice answered.
"Then," said the cat, "it doesn't matter".
