Default Treatment for too much sun?

What is your preferred treatment for too much sun? Do you use fresh lemons, aloe, something else?

In preparation for the season, I'd like to stock up on my after sun treatments.

We always keep aloe in the refrigerator and put it on after spending time in the sun. It feels really good, and does help to soothe any heat.

After-sun sunburn lotion works the best for us. It has aloe and some sort of soothing ingredients in it and it really works. I was burnt from my upper legs to the tops of my feet (day 2 at the beach) and I used it everyday about 3 times a day and I was fine by day 4.

If you get a bad burn there is nothing better than white vinegar. Just pour a couple of gallons in the bathtub with your bath water and soak in it.

It will take all of the heat out of the burn. 1 application is all you will need.

You can buy it by the gallon cheap at your local grocery store.

Funnily enough, I was just researching uses for vinegar in response to another post and I found that vinegar prevents sunburn blistering. As a child my mother used calamine lotion on my sunburn.

Soak in a cool bathtub with a little white vinegar, followed by applying aloe+ lidocaine sunburn gel. A few aspirins (3x325 mg) seems to help me, as well.

Prevention is the best medicine! Use an appropriate sunblock and SPF clothing. Stay out of the sun from 10-2. Three burns in a lifetime and you are setting yourself up for skin cancer down the road.

I remember my mother doing this on my legs as a child...burned like all hell when it made contact. I think this application is like when you hit your finger with a hammer...then some one kicks you square in the groin, your finger doesn't hurt any more! I have heard this before about vinegar but never tried it again after my first experience. When I get too much sun, I drink plenty of water and continue to apply sunscreen.

I use vinegar too, if I'm home. If not, I carry after sun lotion or aloe with me. One of the most important things to do first is to apply sunscreen and reapply as you go. I don't go anywhere without sunscreen. I've already done too much damage to my skin this far without doing more.
