Watching the debate

Is anyone planning to watch the GOP debate tonight? I probably won't actually watch it I'll just read the summaries after it's over. It's a little faster that way!

It's still so early I don't know how much attention anyone is paying yet. The cold hard fact of the matter is that it does not matter who gets elected. It will just be more of the same old, same old until it comes crashing down around our ears.

Watching a lot of promises being made when nothing for the citizens ever gets done is kind of pointless to watch. Put someone up there that says, no more spending on useless garbage, and I'll tune in.

I missed it but I am sure I was watching something else that was at least a tad more entertaining. Want to fill me in on anything that would have been worth watching?

I'd rather be fishing. It's quite similar. You throw your bait into the water and hope that you will get dinner. You have no idea what will end up at the end of your line. It may be good and it may be an empty hook because you've once again been robbed by small fish that promise a lot but don't deliver.

We are not responsible for the candidates. They are presented as viable like a swirl in the water you think is a good fish. When we hook it, we find it isn't what we expected, but a waterlogged branch from an overhanging tree.

In this country, we don't elect the best person for the job. We elect the person most likely to be electable. Unlike fishing, we can't just rebait and try again. We're stuck for four years of excuses and pleas for re-election. "I'll get it right this time!"

Sure you will. That's what Teddy Kennedy said every time after his Chappaquidick speech. "When I returned, MAry Joe and the car were gone." It worked for 45 years.
