Default We Made it.

I was terrified of the asteroid for days now. Me and my family have been living in a bunker for several months now in anticipation. We started a small herb garden and devised a water purification system for groundwater using a Brita Filter system, sticks and a fish tank. We purchased several hundred pounds of rice. I covered myself from head to toe in twinkies in case there was a nuclear meltdown. It's good to be alive.

What are you talking about? Oh my... Get a boat.. Zombies? Wow! What a great thread! I'm wondering when the zombies will come and what asteroid you are talking about? I must have missed something.

There was an asteroid that passed very close to the Earth. It came within 22 miles of hitting us which would have temporarily reversed gravity causing the moon to also crash into Earth. I'm not a member of the scientific community, although I did go to the zoo this summer, but that would of been the end of days.

They say it will be a lot closer next time around, 2026? Somewhere around there anyway. I'm just wondering what you're doing with all the rice Joe? Expecting a lot of weddings?

I think it was more like 200,000 miles. Reports say that it will pass between the Earth and Moon, but this is misleading. It will not actually pass between, but closer enough to us that it will pass through the moons orbit around the Earth.

Guess you'll have to wait untill 12-12-2012 to start eating that rice.

I would have liked to have seen it. But no telescope, and it was cloudy. It passes by every few years if I remember correctly.

Now that would be interesting if water collected in rain barrels could be channeled into emergency bunkers as needed.
