Default Where is the grass?

I never really noticed it much but it seems the more houses that go on sale have this weird weed grass, its not real its kind of like crab grass but a little different. What happened to having a yard with real grass that you can walk outside barefoot in?

Sod happened. Now no one uses grass seed everybody puts sod in the new houses and a lot of it has that weird grass you are talking about. People pay a lot of money for that junk too!

It may not be sod. If it is, it is low grade or a grass blend that inckudes perrenial rye. The most popular way to start a lawn is hydroseeding. This is a kind of slurry that is sprayed onto the soil. It works but you have to know who you're buying from and since it may take several applications weeds can invade before the grass germinates.

Silly person associating my username here with certain things that hippies are known for.

Honestly I have no idea what they have done to the yard but this summer it really hit, driving up my road on a nice day if I am lucky to get home before dark, all of the yards look evil. They are big fat patchy like leaves, no clue what they are and neighbors are unsure too.

Things like cable TV and internet happened. Not many people take the time anymore to play outside, let alone do the work needed to maintain a healthy lawn. Sadly, the house I bought the people did not take care of the yard at all. I've finally got the yard cleaned up after starting if Feb. Now I need to work on a sprinkler system and growing some grass. But no money left to do a sprinkler system. So it will be a while before I get a nice lawn. Still walk barefoot though.
