I'll hike in winter but I don't like to spend the night anywhere but my cozy, comfy bed curled up with my nice electric blanket. It's beautiful out there for a walk, but I don't camp when it's cold unless I have to.
Ohhhh.....you didn't say anything about having beer, hell ya, I'll winter camp!
You had to drink it fast otherwise it froze right up on you. I think the coldest it was that weekend was -20* with ground blizzards.
And Judy, that's precisely what that cooler was for. To keep the contents above freezing. The big blue smurf in the left of that picture was kind to pull it in on his pulk (sp?). Content were to make donuts and fried snickers for my birthday and of course, beer.
You must have had an awesome birthday! I posted a copy of the picture at work trying to get a few people interested in a winter camping trip, who knows it might happen!!!

I love Winter camping. My fires are a bit bigger but I don't have to buy ice to keep the beer cold. The frying pan get scoured with snow. The rabbit you're cooking for dinner gets hung from a branch. The air is oxygen rich. You can eat like a pig and not gain weight. The fish you catch don't have to be kept alive. Snowmobiles are a blast. My sleeping bag is rated at -20. What's not to like?
