Default Another newbie...

Hello everyone! I'm Mike. I'm from Columbia, South Carolina and have been backpacking, hiking and camping for many years now. I hike primarily in the mountains of SC, NC, eastern TN and southwestern Va. My all time favorite backpacking trip to date has been the Teton Crest Trail in Grand Teton although I hope my planned trip for next year will surpass that one (Glacier).

Howdy Mike.

Sometime when you're out west, check out the National Forests near the big parks. Scenery is just as specacular, fewer people and less permit hassles.

Thanks Lamebeaver, I plan to get out west about every other year for a trip if I can. The problem is there are so many options and only so many summers. We're going to plan a couple other options in case we can't get the permits for Glacier. Right now we're thinking the Beartooths as our first option or the Gros Ventre.

By the way, are you the same Lamebeaver who I've seen on the backpacker.com forums? I'm retired_reddog over there.

Seems like we're all scrambling for a new home since it looks as if our old one will soon be gone.
