| Greetings all, Gus here... Obviously new to this forum, but certainly not to camping.
I was asking an older relative about the names of some of the places where we camped when we went bear hunting, (they were week-long outings), I could not recall a couple of them.
In the course of the conversation it dawned on me - "I'm too damn old!"
Those bear hunting camping trips started when I was 8-yrs. old, (my grandfather got me out of school for a week each year - bear season was in November), and here I was asking a relative older than I about a campsite we used ... over 50 years ago!
A campfire is mandatory on my outings, and campfire cooking is a big part of trip for me. I usually volunteer to be the camp cook on almost every outing.
I also enjoy having the right quality camping gear, but when it comes to campsite accessories like rotisseries, utensil and gear holders, and such - I prefer to make my own with lashing projects. Like I said - I'm too damn old! Didn't have many of today's compact light-weight gear when I started camping.
But I'm still campin', and hope to be here awhile.
Gus
