No, this is not a commercial enterprise! Don't panic...

It's just the name for the back acre we turned into a family campground about 10 years ago.
Our family had been in the habit of going to Illinois every year for a family get together, but one year we just couldn't afford to take everyone as our branch of the family was growing so quickly. We decided to "camp at home". We ended up having tents and cars all over our front yard along with a campfire. It rained the whole weekend, the kids were all wet as was their bedding and food. It just happened to be a pseudo-grandson's birthday. At the end of the weekend, he told his mom that it was the BEST BIRTHDAY PARTY
EVER!!! So, the next few weeks we spent reclaiming the back acre of our property and it became the family's private campground.
On one side of us is an empty back yard that our neighbors occasionally use for a campfire and cookout, but they don't sleep out. Behind us is a very small private graveyard, and on the other side is a small woods. In front is the yard for the rest of property, but a line of trees more or less cuts off the view of the road. All in all, quite quiet and perfect for our purposes.
We have older campers, a few tents, and large military tent to gather under for meals on rainy afternoons, various playground equipment, one HUGE sand pile and a nice sized fire pit. Some years we run electric out, others we don't. We have a storage shed, latrine shed, and bunkhouse for the older boys. Not far from our house is part of the Nickel Plate Trails and the grandkids enjoy long walks and bike rides.
