Default Hi from Portland, Oregon

Hi everyone. I love to camp and do just about anything in the outdoors. This forum just excites me more and hopefully will help get me through work everyday so that I can enjoy the outdoors on my time off.

Just last weekend I went camping at Shellrock Creek Campground and plan to go snowshoeing this weekend.

Unfortunately warm. It's sunny today which is nice, but I much prefer cold with snow in the mountains. Lately we have just been getting rain which is melting most of our lower elevation snowpack. I am itching to go snowshoeing, but it isn't much fun in the rain.

Strangely I know how you feel. It has been warm for January here, almost hitting the 80's the other day. But sadly it never gets cold enough for snow here. How often do you get to go snowshoeing normally?

Wow that's really warm!

I normally try to go snowshoeing every weekend or every other weekend. It depends on who I can get to go with me. Whenever I snow camp, I hike so I get to snowshoe on all those trips. Here is my trip report for my last snow camping trip where we snowshoed about 4 miles each way.

My wife won't snow camp with me, so I try to alternate weekends with my friends snow camping and with her snowshoeing for the day. We are hoping to go snowshoeing on Mount Hood this Saturday or Sunday depending on the weather. The last time we tried this it was raining cats and dogs (over 9 inches in 36 hours). Click here for that trip.

If it's not work, I love it. Check out my recent adventures.
