Unhappy Injury

Hello fellow hikers i am in the process of completeting the AT. I occured a miniscus tear in my right knee on the last 30 yrds. from the road into Gr8t. Barrington,Mass. I started off at Delaware Water Gap going NOBO. Once i'm healed i will finish to Maine. Then start SOBO to Ga. My goal is to also hike the PCT-Pacific Coast Trail & Continental Divide. I have allways been the outdoor type that loves to explore the wilderness. At an ealier age i was hiking all over the Badland's of the Dakota's. Beautiful. There is nothing like pitching a tent & sleeping with the wildlife. What a rush bathing from a bladder bag,dry shaving, cooking up grubs, fruits, cereals, wild berries, flowers, etc. Ty and god bless you all.

Welcome to the forum! My significant other suffered a miniscus tear over the summer and he was sidelined for quite some time. He still has an odd twinge or two now and then. I hope you feel better soon so you can get back on the trail!

Hello Witch and welcome to the forums. Hope those injuries heal fast and you get back on the trail. Hiking the thru hikes are awesome goals. My compliments to your fortitude. Even the Idaho Centennial trail looks daunting to me. I've hiked parts of it and would like to hike more but the whole thing at once would really be a challenge.

Amen to Grandpa's post. Anyone who tackles the AT and others is to be commended. A friend of mine actually broke his ankle on the AT hike. Broke it pretty bad. He had surgery, then had to rehab it. He did not quite though. He went back the next year and finished the trail. So....hang in there. It's not the amount of time it takes rather that you finish. Good luck.
