Welcome Pepsigal! I've a few friends that started off hiking in high heels because the man they were with stopped the car on the side of the road in the Smoky Mountains for a quick look. My sister was proposed to on top of Craig Mountain (the second highest in NC). Poor thing was all dressed up in slacks and stilettos (city girl) and he made her hike to the top so he could propose. He's lucky she said yes!!!

Have fun, be true to yourself, and if camping become the most efficient packer ever (advice from friends who joined their guys in the great outdoors)!

Greetings and salutations. Start small, and work your way up would be my advice. Doing an all day hike for your first outing, may give you blisters and make you sore. You want your first experience to be good, so don't let him push you.

Thanks for the good advice. I already told him that my first time out will be only for a couple of hours and I will build on that. He agreed as long as I go.

you are not the only one who is new to the outdoors. for as long as it has been for me. may as well say i am new also. but would love to get back out and share it with my kids.

Welcome! I have learned a fair bit and I have even been out a couple of times already this year. I really enjoy the outdoors and have a far better appreciation of nature and it's beauty.
