Who reads these? Not going to spend much time on this...

Anyway I'm 39 and just getting into backpacking. I've done some camping before but nothing out of view of the car, and that just doesn't do it for me. Ill mainly be in western NC, extreme northwest SC and the NC/TN state line area to start out. My ultimate goal is to section hike parts of the AT, but for now I just want to get and fine tune my stuff. I'm planning on being a two-season hiker, fall and spring. Summer is too hot for me, and freezing in the mountains doesn't sound fun either.

Always nice to see what people are looking for and where they are from. How are things way up there? My parents just went up that way for the weekend. I cannot remember what part though.
