It is a good reality lesson for your kids IMO, reality of where food comes from.
We raise a feed calf every year and take it to the locker plant late fall or around 800lbs.
Wild hogs are available in our imediate area also.

I wish we had wild hogs in our area. We really could use the meat and it would be something else I could hunt. We have a couple of deer in the freezer every year but that's it for big meat animals.
