Default Best type of igniter

I am so frustrated with my igniter, I use it for lighting my wood stove and I take it with me camping. Would I be better off using one with butane?

The best thing I've found for lighting a fire is corn oil in a paper towel. It burns for a goodly time, is environmentally friendly and is not a volatile fuel.

I usually use a cotton ball that has been rubbed in petroleum jelly (Vaseline). I ignite it with a Light My Fire Swedish Fire Steel.
It lights from the first spark and burns for awhile. You just need to stretch the cotton ball to make it take a spark more easily. The more compact your tinder is the less likely it will take a spark.

Cotton balls saturated with vasoline stored in a ziplock bag.
Zippo to get it going.
