Default Cooking on rocks

Has anyone ever cooked on rocks? We had company over last night and we were talking about camping and the husband said he doesn't bother carrying a stove, he cooks his food right on the rocks. I have never heard of this.

This may not be what you are looking for, but it seems like a very useful site. It talks about building a fire pit with rocks and a grill, is that how he was discussing, or cooking right on the rocks?

Thanks for the site, I book marked it for later use. It looks like something I want to build in the back yard and I love the idea of a solar oven.

I haven't tried it (we throw a grate over the fire) but it looks like a very interesting idea. It would be one less thing to pack too.

That is what this guy said, it was just a flat rack, it will fit just about anywhere, no need to pack a stove or BBQ. I think it is a good idea, I may take a back up the first time I try it though.
