Default Eat spinach!

No joke! Popeye was really onto something. Spinach is really good for your muscles! I try to make sure that I eat plenty of spinach before a long hike. It gives me a lot of energy and makes my muscles stronger. And if you want to take some with you, remember, you can either eat it hot or cold. It will travel well for a couple of days. Oh, if you do eat lots of spinach - make sure you also bring plenty of toilet paper along. It does also keep you pretty regular...
