| If you have a dehydrator or you are camping out of a vehicle and weight is not a problem, one of the easiest things to make in a big pot is a beef (or other meat) stew.
If you backpack, you can dehydrate everything and rehydrate it for about a half hour before beginning to cook. Ingredients that are easiest to dehydrate are celery, carrots, zucchini, parsnips, turnips, corn, meats, and tomatoes. You can also buy dried peas, onions, and tomatoes that haven't been processed with chemicals. Bring along some egg noodles and add them when the stew is about done.
