Default Griddle Or Skillet?

I've been contemplating getting a cast iron griddle for when we go out camping. Is it better to use a skillet or a griddle. I know if you have the skillet, it's a bit more versatile than a griddle would be. What do you think? I would only be taking this camping and not backpacking so weight wouldn't be a factor here.

Get both! The skillet is the most useful IMHO, but the griddle is great for cooking things like steaks, chops or pancakes. I currenbly have only an aluminum one, which I don't use too often, but I will most likely pick up a cast iron one when I get around to putting my camp kitchen in the new larger tote I got for it.

If I had to choose one I'd choose the griddle. You can make steaks on the grill so you don't really need a skillet. Griddles you can make all kinds of things on.

That is a tough decision to make. I'd get both too if possible. You can do quite a bit in a cast iron skillet. I've done steaks in them and they come out great. Let the pan get real hot and toss them in and cook until desired doneness. (the heat will sear them, try not to turn but once on each side)
