Default He does the cooking

It's the strangest thing. At home my husband is not interested in the least in cooking. When we go camping, he insists on doing all of it. What do you think accounts for this behavior?

I love cooking when I am camping because it is so primal and back to nature. It does not seem nearly as involved as the kitchen and I do not worry about the expectations of others as much. But that is just me.

That could not of been better said! The smell of smoke from a campfire, fresh air, dirt just make you feel so at home you just want to cook. The camping sort of brings out the caveman in a man,get to run around all day with a knife on your hip, dirty, everything smells good, your super hungary from hiking all day. It just makes it feel so good to be doing things.

Go with the flow Betty and enjoy the entertainment! Do you have a grill at home? Some couples cook "together" just in different locations. Some of my best memories are sitting outside with a cold one waiting for the main course to finish cooking on the grill long after the sides and salad were prepared. I always cherished that "one on one" time together. Something about that fire that gets the juices flowing!

It is in the Bible that in the morning your husband is obligated to get up early and make coffee.
An entire book of the Bible is dedicated to it.....HeBrews.

I like it Coz, I'll have to show my husband the proof! I am glad that my husband will Bar-b-que and do camp cooking. He has always enjoyed cooking over an open fire, and on hot coals, and is now looking into cooking with a dutch oven. All I have to do is help with sides.... yeaaaa!

I used to be the dutch oven cooker on our outings. Then grandma and the girls took over (chuckle chuckle) and I'm relegated back to just breakfast and cleaning pots, which is okay by me. Except I didn't put on near as much weight when I was the cook.

I do all the outdoor cooking and nearly all the indoor cooking at home. That's just how it is. Hell, when we're camping I have to do pretty much everything except those few things my sons can handle.

I love cooking period, but it may stem from the belief that most females don't know how to cook over an open fire. (not being sexist)

Usually a stove\oven but open fire is another beast all together!

America is not the land of (get everything you don't deserve) Its the land the (work your ass off and make your own way), if you don't like it go to china, they have free health care and 1$ a day wages.

It is the outdoor behavior, same thing happens when you are at home and there is a grill in the near distance I am guessing. Now I know two couples who are the complete opposite of that too.
