Default Liquid Ounces Capacity Per Person?

OK, here is a strange question I would like to know the answer to. I want to buy a pot for cooking outdoors. How many liquid ounces of capacity per person should I plan?

How about 8 ounces per person if you want to prepare tea or soup. Cooking rice and similar stuff goes alongside these guidelines. It would be interesting to hear other opinions.

I agree with 8 ounces if it is something liquid you are preparing. That is a pretty good average serving size per person.

I would recommend about 16 ounces per person. It gets hard to cook with a pot that is full to the brim because you are short on capacity. Personally I normally carry a 2 qt. aluminum pot when cooking in a fire (especially for snow camping when melting snow for water). If I am using a stove, I pack a 1 qt. kettle that weights just under 6 oz. The 1 qt. kettle is about the smallest I would go for two people. For example, if memory serves me, you need one to two cups of water in a freeze dried meal.

If it's not work, I love it. Check out my recent adventures.

I would have to rethink my plans then. I usually carry 28oz pot for two and 47oz for 5 people. It can be a tight fit when preparing meals but for liquids is just fine.

8 oz does seem somewhat minimal, but at the same time, 16 oz seems a lot to carry. If you are preparing something from a dry powder, using liquid, it doesn't seem like you would need 16 oz of liquid per person. But, then, again, I really don't know, just my thoughts...
