Default Not sandwiches

I am looking for something we can take with us in the cooler for lunch on a day trip this weekend that is NOT sandwiches. I am tired of sandwiches. Any suggestions?

Salads, hots and hams, fruit, that sort of thing. I get sick of sandwiches too so we take lots of other things. We have made banquet chicken and we keep it warm wrapped up in tin foil.

I love hummus and tzatziki with lots of stuff for dipping: good crackers, cheese (or just stir some feta into the tzatziki), red and green bell pepper strips, cucumbers, and cherry tomatoes. Add some grapes or peaches, and a yummy baked treat for dessert. Or for a sandwich idea outside the ordinary, smother a good wrap with hummus and tzatziki, and add smoked turkey, feta, and lots of veggies.

It depends on where you're going to be. Some hot dogs to roast on a quick campfire? Or what about just pigging out on trail mix, chips and dips?

How about a thermos full of stew, or soup, or burritos or........

Thanks for all the ideas guys. I don't know why I didn't think of some of these myself. We are going to take fried chicken, potato salad, and fruit on this weeks adventure.

Sounds good. I love fried chicken and all of the other things that go with them. We usually stop on the way, if we are going on a picnic, and pick up some KFC and all of the trimmings. A lot of times we will get stuff and just go out to lunch from work. It's nice to get out of the shop sometimes.

That would be the best, easiest and quickest thing to do for a nice picnic. KFC, Popeyes and I'm sure there are others to choose from. You just get all that you need and head on out.

I was going to say hummus and mini pretzels. I can eat a tub of hummus in one sitting! If you buy pita bread you can use the hummus as a spread, too. I can not think of anything else, w usually just pack sandwiches on our day trips.
