Default Persimmons?

Does anyone really like these things? And what do you do with them? Have any of you tried canning them? Do you cook anything with them? I mean these things will turn your mouth inside out so I don't know what they would taste like canned.

What are they? I thought at first you misspelled the word. I have no idea what they are so I'm sure I have never had them before. I would love to know more about them.

I'm interested now too because I have never heard of them either. What do they taste like? Is it a meat or what? I would love to know more. I'm going to google it now!

You can find out a lot about this fruit on line.I have never tried them but I know they must be very ripe, almost over ripe to be eatable. There are two classes or groups.Asian, which probably came from China, and the American.

Persimmons are very good when ripe (almost ovveripe, as mentioned above) a green one will make your whole mouth pucker!

Around here it's hard to collect enough to do anything with unless the tree is right in your yard where you can watch it daily (something like Pawpaws in that respect). The raccoons and possums are crazy about them and get them almost as fast as they hit the ground.

I like persimmons. You do have to have them really, really ripe before they are any good. I've had some really good ones out in the woods while I was hunting. I don't know of any way to fix them except to eat them.
