| I've only used aluminum ones, and they worked fine. I usually spray them with a little cooking oil to keep things from sticking. I suppose the cast-iron ones wouild get seasoned like a skillet eventually and get less prone to sticking.
Eddie- pie irons are little clamshell things about 4'x4' on the end on a long set of handles. You take a pie crust, or bread and put it on each shell, with some kind of filling in the center (pie filling, peanut butter and jelly, meat, etc.), then close the shells and trim poff the excess stuff. You cook them over a campfire or grill and you get pies or sandwiches.
