Default Popping popcorn over the fire.

Need a little help here. The kids want to pop popcorn over the fire and I tend to burn it even in the microwave. Any tips on how to pop the corn without turning it to ash? Anything special I need to bring?

I have a special pan for my popcorn and I haven't burnt it since! I believe I found the pan on amazon for about $30. Amazon.com: Open Fire Pop Popcorn Popper: Kitchen & Dining

Yeah those pans are fantastic. I used to have one but someone borrowed it and never gave it back to me. Now i just buy the little foil popcorn pans you can get at the grocery store.

You have to have a long handled pan to pop popcorn over a fire. Also you have to shake it constantly or it's going to burn. When it's almost done (a pop here and there) remove it from the fire and wait a bit before you open the pan because it will continue to pop for a few minutes.

Thanks a bunch for steering me to the popcorn pan, hopefully this will do the trick. The kids will be so excited. Now, if one of you could just tell me how to stop burning the microwave popcorn I'll be completely covered!
