Default Rats!

I hate those creatures and just wondered if anyone here ever went camping and found that you had extra company in the form of rats. We did that one time out in the woods near a pond. Kept hearing little noises then scratching sounds on the outside of the tent! I can tell you right now that we packed up and left. There was no way I would have stayed there. Not sure how many they were, wasn't staying around to try and count!

I haven't had to deal with rats while camping, however, skunks are another story! I've been sprayed twice by a skunk. It's not a fun feeling. I was at my friends cottage before and I did see a rat run across the edge of a roof. The thing was huge. The women freaked out, but it just ran away.

My hubby and kids went camping one time when the kids were just under their teens and had some around them. He told me when they got home the next day and said it was a good thing I hadn't come along. I don't care to much for them either! Oh and I can't imagine being sprayed by a skunk!

I don't tolerate rats. Fortunately, I don't have any on my ranch, too many raptors.

Skunks are another matter. I used to have chickens so I shot every one of them I encountered. They don't harm the chickens. They steal the eggs. Never been sprayed by a skunk but I've come real close.

I am not bothered by rats. They might make a lot of noise and look for food, but they tend to stay away from people. They are more likely to run away from you than bite you. I am with the others, skunks are much worse. We have moved camp sites due to having a skunk that wouldn't leave us alone.

I have never seen this in the woods no but you can bet that if I had you could hear me screaming from miles away. Rats are nasty little buggers and just the thought creeps me out.

I've never encountered rats out while camping. They can be pests but they usually don't attack. I'm just concerned about the diseases they carry. Yeah, they are nasty but they are also easily killed by my 50 pound Husky. He doesn't like them much.

I would not find it pleasant to camp around rats. Yuck! I would prefer any other critters to rats except maybe cougars.
