Default Roasting sticks?

Do you have sticks you keep, and take with you camping, or do you just find new ones wherever you are. My kids found some perfect sticks this past weekend, and insisted on bringing them home for next time. I think they're silly, but at least we know we're prepared for the next campfire.

We bought some not too long ago, but even then we usually end up finding new ones when we get to our campsite. I think if you find the perfect one, and want to hold onto it, that's a good idea.

I can't believe this came up a second time!

Pick up a stick, put something on it, hold it over the fire.

We bought some metal sticks that we take. We also pick up sticks where ever we go camping. It's easy as there is always dead trees and limbs around.

A second time?

Chad's right. This is at least the second time.

I carve my sticks out of a thicker limb so I can put heavier stuff on it. When I'm done, I leave the stick leaning on a tree through a low branch so the next person can use it.

Wow, tough crowd. My bad. In my defense, I did just search it and the first post was before I joined. I suppose I need to make better use of the search feature next time I post!

We don't usually keep ours since there are always good sticks to be found. Wouldn't the metal ones get hot when you were holding them over the fire?

Don't feel bad about it. The comments are new.

I was thinking that carving roasting sticks might be a good way to teach kids knife skills that are useful. I like the idea of using it for other things. Thanks!
