Default Smoked turkey

Did anyone else have smoked turkey this year? This was the first time I had ever had a smoked turkey. My father-in-law made them and they were really good!

We always have smoked turkey at our bowling party. One of the guys raises a few turkeys each year and donates and smokes it for our party. Awesome !! Natural farm feed to a fresh turkey then smoked? You just can't beat it. (Ponderosa? that would be Quincy's Dad)

No but I have been seriously considering a meat smoker for a couple of years now. I'm thinking this could be the year for it....

I've got a smoker but have really never acquired the knack of using it as well as old Bill has. That is a man who loves good food.

I've smoked a few this year. I love it except for the wait. It seems to take forever. I like doing turkey legs because of that. They are great for parties.

Smoked turkey is one of those things that you either do it right or horribly wrong.
When you get someone who knows how to do it right, it is quite the experience.

I have had smoked turkey before, but the one that I had was horribly dry. Maybe they left it on the smoker for too long or cooked it at too high of a temperature.

I always brine mine first. It seems to help make it nice and moist. I typically use alton browns brine but add some honey to it.

The closest I had is the supposed smoked turkey breast I get in my sandwich in a local deli here. Nothing like what you guys mentioned. Definitely would like to try it, but I doubt I'll ever get the time to make one on my own.
