Default Smokers?

Recently I quit smoking but I am wondering for those here who do smoke, what are you doing with the butts when your on a trip? I always hated to see litter bugs even when I did smoke and we always kept a large jar (to dispose of them in once done).

I had a little aluminum bait holder on my belt with a spring loaded lid when I was on the trail.

I quit some years ago but my friend uses a portable ashtray. It seals well and doesn't smell, and holds enough for more than a day's use.

If they don't go into the fire, they go into a type of canteen on my belt... and no 'tailor mades' in the bush, either, they keep their coal a lot longer, and smoulder a lot longer, than a hand-rolled one will, and are a common cause of forest fires.

If you HAVE to smoke outdoors in the wilds, PLEASE don't smoke anything with a filter unless you're prepared to hike it out with you.... PLEASE.

Since I smoke an occasional Cigar, I will normally just push it deep in the ground or break it up into tiny pieces and scatter it.

I don't smoke and I don't camp with those that do smoke but it burns me when I see cigarette butts all over the place. A campground is no place to be dropping your smoked up cigarettes. There are kids all over the place and it is not something you want them to put in their mouths.

I am a backpacker and I do smoke. All buts are placed in a zip lock bag and one of tow things happen. If I have a campfire at night they are burned. If not the stay in the zip lock bag and are carried out and disposed of properly.

I quit smoking some time ago, and, honestly, there are not many people who I camp with that smoke. Maybe they like to keep their lungs clear for the fresh air, I don't know. But the ones that do usually keep a bag handy to stick the butts in and dispose of them properly.

I smoke and when I go into the woods, the butts go into my pocket, they always go into my pocket unless there is an ashtray near, otherwise I dispose of them at home.

If your kid is young enough to pick up a random object and put it in his mouth he shouldn't be wandering around unattended. That has nothing to do with camping.
