Default In trouble

We got in trouble (warning) for having a bonfire in our back yard. I live in the country and we were only burning wood! The police stopped and said that someone claimed our smoke was “too black” and they thought we were burning tires. Seriously? The police knew as soon as they walked back that it was only wood. I tell you – some people should mind their own business. We don’t burn tires!

Some places (even in the country) require you to get a burn permit from the township/county/fire district.

There can be a substantial fine for burning without a permit.

It was dry here for a long time, and my neighbors decided to have a huge bonfire really late one night. I was scared, because there is a field, between our properties. Their bonfire was already huge, and if it caught the field on fire, my house would have been gone. What I am getting at, is sometimes a neighbor calls in a fire because they are safety conscious. Sometimes a person does not call the law to spite you, they do it because they are concerned.
